Streaming rights in India change constantly. A Tamil film can be on one service this month and another the next, and a film available in the United States may not be available here at all. That is why this page checks Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, Sun NXT, ZEE5 and Aha and shows what is actually available in India, rather than listing films you then cannot watch.
Tamil cinema releases more films than any other Indian industry apart from Hindi, and Sun NXT carries a large back catalogue that the bigger services do not. A film missing from Netflix and Prime Video is often sitting on Sun NXT.
Most Tamil films reach streaming about four to eight weeks after they open in cinemas. If a recent release is missing, it has probably not finished its theatrical run yet. Our movie reviews say where each reviewed film will stream and are updated when a date is announced.
Latest Tamil movies on OTT
New Tamil films appear on this page as soon as they start streaming in India, so the recent arrivals are already in the list above. The order, though, is by how popular each title is right now — not by date. For a straight newest-first list across every language, use our latest OTT releases page.
If a film you are looking for is not here yet, it is most likely still running in cinemas. The usual wait is four to eight weeks from the theatrical release, longer for a big hit.
Where to watch Tamil movies online
Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, Sun NXT, ZEE5 and Aha all carry Tamil films in India, and none of them has everything. Which service holds a particular film also changes when the rights are resold, so last year's answer is not always this year's.
Rather than opening each app in turn, search the title on this site. The answer comes back for India specifically, with the service named, and every card above links through to the film's own page.
We only list legal streaming services. If a film is on none of them, it is not available to stream in India yet, whatever else a search result may offer you.

Where can I watch Tamil movies online in India?
Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, Sun NXT, ZEE5 and Aha all carry Tamil films, and which service has a given title changes over time. Rather than checking each app in turn, search the title here and the answer comes back for India specifically.
How do I find which app is streaming a Tamil movie?
Search the film's name on this site. The result names the Indian streaming service carrying it and links straight through, which is quicker than opening Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, Sun NXT, ZEE5 and Aha one at a time.
How soon do new Tamil films come to streaming?
Usually four to eight weeks after the cinema release. Bigger hits stay in cinemas longer before moving; smaller films often arrive sooner.
